How do online Care Courses work?

We often get the question “How do your Online Courses work?” from our students. Here is what we can tell you: If you have access to the Internet, our online format can be the best way for you to take our courses. If you need to get your course done fast in order to meet a deadline, it’s definitely the fastest way.

Here’s how they work:

--As soon as your order of Online Courses has been placed either by phone (through our staff) or online (by you), you will receive a few emails from Care Courses – so make sure you provide an up-to-date email address! The first email will be a receipt of the order that was just placed. The following email(s) will contain Enrollment Code(s) for your course(s) – which is to say, you will get a separate enrollment code for every course you order. You can also get an Enrollment Code from someone else; if your center director or a friend/relative buys the course, they can just give the code to you.

--Once you receive your Enrollment Code, login to your account at www.CareCourses.com and activate your code (more about Enrollment Codes in our next post). Once the Enrollment Code has been activated, you will have access to the course in the My Courses section of your online account. Be sure that you're logged in to your account when you activate the code - if you're logged in as someone else, they will get credit for the course instead of you! If you think you've activated a code in the wrong account, call us as soon as you can and we'll work together on a solution.

--You can go through the sections of your Online Course one at a time by clicking the "next" button at the bottom. You can also use the menu on the left to navigate the course. Click on a lesson title and all of the sections in that lesson will drop down; then just click the section that you want to go to. If you use the "Mark My Place" button to bookmark a section, it will be highlighted in green in this left-hand navigation menu so you can find it easily and return to it.

Most courses have Self-Check sections with a number of true/false questions. Your answers to these questions are not graded; they're just there to help you learn the course material. You might see similar questions in multiple-choice form on your quizzes!

At the end of each lesson, you'll take a quiz. Select your answer to each of the multiple choice questions, then record your answers by clicking one of the buttons at the bottom of the screen. If you click, "Save Progress," you'll stay on the quiz after your answers are saved. The other button will either say, "Save and Go to Next Lesson" or "Save and Go to Course End" if you're doing a short course that consists of only one lesson.

When you've saved an answer for every question on a lesson quiz, a blue disk icon will appear next to the name of that lesson in the left-hand menu. If you see a yellow disk there, that means that you don't have an answer saved for all of the questions. Go back to the lesson quiz and make sure you've answered all of the questions and clicked "Save Progress" to record them.

--Once you are finished with all the lesson quizzes, a green button that says “Submit for Grading” will appear underneath all the lessons. Click that, and for most quizzes, grades are provided right away. Those courses that have written activities will take a couple of days to be graded by our staff. You will be notified by email as soon as your course has been graded.

You can check the status of your course by logging in to your account and clicking the "My Courses" tab. If you see "In Progress" under "Course Status," then the system thinks you're not finished yet - click on the course title to open it up and check to see if any of your lesson quizzes have yellow disks like we described earlier. If you see "Submitted for Grading," that means we're working on grading your written activities here in the office and we'll be done with them soon.

--If your score was 70% or higher on each lesson, we will automatically mail your certificate to the address you provide. The mailing turnaround time is about 5-7 business days.

Important things to know about an online Care Course!

  • With Online Courses you can print out the course pages (but not the quizzes) from a PDF file of the course. Click the yellow button that says “Print Course Content” and look for a file with the same name as the title of your course. If the file does not open, your computer may need Adobe Reader (download it here).
  • You can do the course at your own pace; it doesn’t expire and we don’t time you while you’re working.

Please let us know how we can be of additional assistance! Call us: 1-800-685-7610, Monday through Friday, 9-5 ET, or email us days, evenings and weekends: info@CareCourses.com. We’re here to help!
